Some Tips for Preparation - Be aware that for the 2006 filing season:
The IRS will allow up to $60 added to your refund for federal excise taxes collected for long distance phone calls made after February 28, 2003. A person filing single will receive $30, joint filing will receive $40, joint filing with one dependent will receive $50, and joint filing with two dependents will receive $60.
Energy Credits this year cover the purchase of a hybrid automobile. This credit amount varies depending on the type of car purchased. To find the credit allowed for a hybrid automobile go to www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxcenter.shtml.
A $1000 credit for installing solar water heating equipment. Remember, every dollar of a credit is a dollar off your tax bill! Deductions, in contrast, are subtracted from your taxable income.
