Birmingham, AL – Birmingham author T.K. Thorne has been awarded the 2009 Book of the Year Award for Historical Fiction by Foreword Reviews for her novel Noah’s Wife. The announcement was made during a ceremony at BookExpo America in New York City.
Foreword Review recognized Book of the Year Award winners in 60 categories from a selection representing the best independently published works from 2009. The winners were selected by a panel of librarian and bookseller judges.
ForeWord Review is the only review trade journal devoted exclusively to books from independent houses. It’s Book of the Year Awards were established to bring increased attention to librarians and booksellers of the literary and graphic achievements of independent publishers and their authors. The judges based their decisions on editorial excellence, professional production, originality of the narrative, author credentials relative to the book, and the value the book adds to its genre.
ForeWord’s founder and publisher, Victoria Sutherland, speaking at the awards ceremony said, “This year more than ever before, we heard from the judges how great the finalist books were and how difficult it was to make their decisions.” She added, “Despite this tough economy, independent publishers are producing some of the best books out there, and we are happy to honor them today.”

About Noah’s Wife
The Bible barely mentions Noah’s wife but author T.K. Thorne brings her story to life in Noah’s Wife, a work of historical fiction set in ancient Turkey 7,000 years ago. Na’amah is a beautiful young girl with (what’s known today as) Asperser’s Syndrome who wishes only to be a shepherdess, but her unique abilities and penchant to speak the truth force her to walk a dangerous path in an age of change—a time of challenge to the goddess’ ancient ways, when cultures clash and the earth itself is unstable.
