The American Red Cross Fundraiser: Paint the Town Red
Saturday night, April 17: From 6:00 to 11:00 p.m., there was a Street Party on 2nd Avenue North. The annual Red Cross fundraiser, Paint the Town Red - is a digital feast for the senses, showcasing Birmingham's architecture. Films and stills are projected onto the sides of the buildings downtown, while visitors stopped to watch; or listened to live music; skateboarded down the sidewalks; checked out local pubs; and learned about CAP at the City Action Partnership Booth. Red Diamond provided everyone with free tea, and vendors offered services from massages to food, information to belly dancing.
What's On 2nd was open and packed, the unique store garnering lots of the downtown regulars, and newcomers to the area as well. The Urban Standard served specialty coffees and food, and Charmed ran sales. If you don't know what's on 2nd, take a trip any day of the week. Check out the German Beer, live music at Rogue...and spend some time.
In the meantime, the event was a great time for everyone, the weather perfect. Enjoy the photos and
