If you haven't been out to the original Jefferson County Farmers' Market on Finley Avenue, you really, really have no idea what you're missing. Neil Burnett gave us the scoop, and the tour. "The produce and offerings change season to season; they always have something great...at a fantastic price!"
He wasn't kidding. Acres and acres of produce, fresh vegetables, truckloads and pallet loads of strawberries; mangoes; papayas; bananas; onions - sweet, vidalia, red; peanuts; baby red potatoes; home grown apples and peaches; green beans; peas; corn on the cob - oh my gosh, it's enough to make your mouth water! Take cash, it's all they accept, but you don't need much of it. For $8, we bought 4 apples, 6 bananas, a pound of grapes, and 2 pounds of baby red potatoes. Try doing that at any store.
Don't hit the Interstate, take the shortcut through the City. Simply take Carraway Boulevard straight out to Finley Avenue - less than 10 minutes from Clairmont Avenue. Take a left on Finley and go 1 mile down to the light. Take a right and follow the sign. Enjoy the Farmer's Market!
